Funding the rental costs for the Stephanie Kelly Gallery
The Stephanie Kelly gallery on Neustädter Markt is an art space that, among other things, is run as a non-profit organization by students and graduates of the Dresden University of Fine Arts. This person can look forward to financing his rental costs - June 2019 to May 2020.
The art space's exhibitions are characterized above all by a tandem principle, which juxtaposes artistic positions of young local artists with nationally active and more experienced artists. By financing the rental costs at the new location (Neustädter Markt), the gallery will be relieved of an essential financial position and will strengthen contemporary young art in Dresden.
The Stephanie Kelly Gallery sees itself as a project space under the label of classic galleries. In addition to the comparison of artistic positions, the jointly designed exhibitions provide a wide-ranging insight into the respective local art scenes. Dresden, as the state capital of Saxony, as one of the best-known cities for fine art and as a city with one of the most renowned art universities in Germany, plays a key role in this context. The support of one's own growing generation of artists and curators by their surroundings also shapes the perception of a city to the outside world. It is therefore important to create a basis for existence for young artists in order to locate their center of life in the city of Dresden in the long term.
About the
GALERIE STEPHANIE KELLY
The Stephanie Kelly Gallery is a non-commercial exhibition space founded in 2015 and has been at its new location on Neustädter Markt since February 2019.
The use of the fictional "figurehead" - the American gallery owner "Stephanie Kelly" - represents the regional and national perception that this is a commercially oriented and up-and-coming gallery. This coup was not only the catalyst for the founding of the gallery, it also enabled us to make numerous contacts with other institutions and to network beyond a conventional project space - a great benefit for the Dresden artists who exhibit with us and for Dresden as an art and cultural metropolis.
