Foundation of Art and Music for Dresden supports the project #philzuzweit

#philzuzweit - that is more than a symbol in these times. Many freelance artists have found themselves in a difficult situation due to the Corona pandemic, much more difficult than permanent musicians. The project #philzuzweit therefore enables a concert of an ensemble member of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra with a freelance artist from Dresden. The fee for the freelance musician and for the video production is now provided by the Foundation of Art & Music for Dresden.

Martina de Maizière, Executive Director of the Foundation of Art and Music for Dresden, explains the current important concern of the foundation:

"Without freelancers and solo self-employed there is no cultural life, neither in Dresden, nor elsewhere. Most of them are affected by the event cancellations of the last months, but especially those who belong to the 'free scene'. Exactly this group deserves our special help now. That is why we are very pleased that the ensemble of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra is standing up for their freelance colleagues with "philzuzweit. We are very happy to support this initiative financially. It is virtually a must for us as a foundation."

In each of the video concerts, a member of the orchestra and a freelance artist perform a program ranging from lighter music to more demanding works. The short concerts are moderated by the artists and the dramaturg. The videos appear once a week on the homepage and social media channels.
