In 2014, the non-profit organization geh 8 – Art Space and Studios received financial means for construction work at their building in Dresden-Pieschen, which had to be closed due to fire saftey aspects. The foundation's means closed the last financial gap. Thus, the versatile art space could be reopened on June 21st,2014.

In 2015, the foundation is once more supporting the art space. This time it funds the construction of fire exit stairs that are indispensable for security reasons in order to reopen the artist studios on the first floor. The first artist receiving the foundation's International Art Grant, Fernando Sánchez Castillo, will work in one of the studios at "geh8". The Foundation of Arts and Music for Dresden is glad about this multifacetted cooperation with "geh8".

geh8 Art Space and Studios is an independently, artist-run, non-commercial art space. It was founded in 2007 in an old railway container terminal in Dresden. Since then, the location has become an important art space in Dresden. Because the structure houses both studios as well as a large exhibition hall, the character of the space is unique.

As expressed in its name, geh8 Art Space and Studios is particularly special due to the coexistence of art making and exhibiting.Artists with studios develop and curate exhibitions in the main hall of the former railway terminal, which is an ideal setting for discussion of current art issues. Additionally, geh8 is very interested in developing and expanding diverse forms of cooperation with similar institutions on a local and international level.

Because of the self-governing model of geh8 and due to its non-commercial approach, geh8 Art Space and Studios is also able to support and foster unconventional and experimental ideas and exhibitions.
