Artist Manaf Halbouni is taking a public stance for peace, freedom, and humanity as he is erecting his temporary sculpture "Monument" on Dresden's Neumarkt, infront of the world-famous Frauenkirche. The installation will be opened within the context of the art festival „Am Fluss/ At the River“ and Dresden's annual commemoration of the victims of war an terror.

Opening on 7th February at 1 pm with an address by the Lord mayor of Dresden, Dirk Hilbert

Introductory remarks: Pastor Sebastian Feydt, Frauenkirche Foundation and Christiane Mennicke-Schwarz, Director of Kunsthaus Dresden

 "Monument" is made possible by a uniquw project network of partners who got together in order to initiate an open discurse in the public space of our city:

  • Stiftung Kunst & Musik für Dresden (Foundation of arts & music for Dresden)
  • Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung gemeinsam mit der Ostsächsischen Sparkasse Dresden
  • Kunstkommission für Kunst im öffentlichen Raum der Landeshauptstadt Dresden
  • Stiftung Osterberg für Kunst & Kultur
  • Militärhistorisches Museum der Bundeswehr - MHM Dresden
